Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

About LARR-On-Line

Can everybody access the LARR-On-Line web page?

Yes, everybody can access the LARR web page at no charge. However, online access to full-text articles is restricted to individual and institutional LASA members.

What do I have to do to access full-text articles?

In order to access full-text articles, you will be required to enter your LASA Member ID Number and your LASA Member Password.

What should I do if I forget my LASA Member ID and/or Password?

Email us at lasa@pitt.edu. We will send you the information.

Once I have my LASA Member ID and Password, how do I access the full-text articles?

Individual and Institutional Members can do this in two ways: (1) you can go to Current Issue and click on the article that you are interested in reading (a window will pop up asking for your LASA Member ID and Password), or (2) you can go to Article Search and do a search by any criteria you might be interested in (volume, author, title, country, subject, etc).

What steps do I follow to access back issues?

In order to get to back issues of LARR, go to Article Search and do a search by volume. You may enter the volume number by itself (i.e., enter the number 36 in the Volume Section of the Article Search table), or if you know the volume and issue, search by volume and issue (i.e., if you are looking for volume 36, issue 2, enter in the Article Search, Volume Section, 36/2) . This will result in an online table of contents, which you then will be able to access with your LASA Member ID and Password.

How much of LARR has been placed on-line?

The online searchable index covers every single issue of LARR since the very early days in 1965 to the present. The inclusion of full-text articles starts with Volume 27, Issue 1 in 1992 until the current issue.

On Submissions of Articles:

Does LARR publish in Spanish or Portuguese?

Yes, quite frequently, in fact. Submissions in Spanish and Portuguese are welcome and will be reviewed in the normal way. Once accepted, LARR does not translate articles and prefers to publish papers in the original language.

What is the turnaround time from manuscript submission to decision?

Generally within a month of receipt for those papers that do not go out for external review. And within four months (total) for those that are reviewed externally. Please see Review Process for further details.

What should I do to be considered to write a Book Review?

LARR publishes Book Reviews by invitation only. If you would like to have your name added to the list of authors to be considered to write a Book Review please see Book Review on the LARR web page for further details.

Does LARR have any specific formatting requirements?

LARR like many other academic journals has its own unique format and style. In order to provide the most polished manuscript possible please use the respective Manuscript Style Guide, Research Report and Notes Style Guide, and Book Review Style Guide. The article, research report and notes, or book review should be formatted according to the style guide and a checked off copy of the style guide should be submitted electronically along with the article.

Where should I resubmit my revised manuscript or research note now that LARR is moving to McGill?

If you have revised a manuscript and you are ready to resubmit it to LARR, you can send it directly to McGill University. Please find more details at Submission Information.
