New Initiatives

To complement our editorial policy, the Editorial Committee of LARR at McGill intends to take full advantage of its close working relationship with the LASA Secretariat. To this end, we are launching a number of exciting new initiatives for LARR that promise to increase our visibility as well as impact on the social sciences and humanities:

  • The appointment for the first time of a Co-Managing Editor at McGill to ensure a smooth, efficient and timely pre-production process up to the point manuscripts are accepted for publication.
  • The appointment for the first time of a Co-Managing Editor in Pittsburgh to liaise with the LASA Secretariat and oversee the production side of the journal after manuscripts are accepted for publication.
  • For the first time, LARR will periodically publish special thematic issues that will examine timely themes in Latin American research from multi-disciplinary perspectives.
  • Minimize total manuscript turn around time (from review to publication) by moving exclusively to electronic submission of manuscripts, as well as continuing to use electronic communication with authors and reviewers.
  • To improve LARR-On-Line by, among other things, increasing search capabilities.
  • Stimulate cutting-edge research by sponsoring forums at congresses or meetings of leading scholars to encourage those authors to submit their work for possible publication in LARR.
