'Canada and the Americas: Multi-Disciplinary Perspectives on Transculturality'

‘Canada and the Americas: Multidisciplinary Perspectives on Transculturality’ is an international multi-lingual colloquium to be held at the Glendon campus of York University in Toronto, April 24 and 25 2008. The conference will offer an inter-disciplinary intellectual space aimed to favoring knowledge transfers, research collaboration, and the strengthening of inter-institutional partnerships between Canadian researchers (mostly from Ontario and Quebec), and scholars from Latin America and the Caribbean. The conference will offer five consecutive panels in four languages (simultaneous translated), where the following key themes will be explored: ‘Towards a Transcultural Indigeneity’; ‘Experiences of Translation Across the Americas’; ‘Interculturality, Transculturality and Globalization’; ‘Migration in Global Cities’; and ‘Hemispheric Imaginaries: creolité, mestizaje, americanidade or hybridity?’. Please send, before December 15 2007, your communication proposal in either of the four languages of the Americas (Spanish, English, Portuguese or French), with your professional contact information, a title and an abstract of 100 words, as well as the panel for which the submission is made.
