The theme for the conference is "Latin America: Dealing with the Heritage of the Past, Building Bridges to the Future."

MALAS is interdisciplinary and welcomes papers on a variety of Latin American topics.

The conference will be held at The Capitolio (Puerto Rico's legislature) and is co-sponsored by Senator Kenneth McClintock, President of the Puerto Rican Senate, and Sistema Universitario Ana G. Méndez
