Frequently Asked QuestionsPapers on CD-ROMWill LASA provide the CD-ROM of papers at LASA2009? Am I required to submit my paper? Is there a special format for papers appearing in the CD-ROM? Will LASA provide the CD-ROM of papers at LASA2009?Yes. The CD-ROM will give registered Congress participants access to a majority of the papers presented at LASA2009 in a single electronic medium and allow presentations prepared especially for the meeting to reach a much broader audience. Am I required to submit my paper?Accepted participants will need to send their papers only if they want them to be included on the Congress CD-Rom. The deadline to submit electronic papers is March 9, 2009. Is there a special format for papers appearing in the CD-ROM?The cover page should carry the title, author's name and affiliation, and the following: "Prepared for delivery at the 2009 Meeting of the Latin American Studies Association,
Rio de Janeiro, Brazil June 11-14, 2009."
What is the length for the paper? We recommend the papers to be single-spaced with a suggested length of 20-25 pages. However, participants may submit a paper of a length they consider appropriate for their field and for the time they have for their presentation. Is the CD a publication? No, it simply is a record of the Congress proceedings. The proceedings constitute facsimiles of the papers presented there. Authors retain all copyrights to their papers and can submit them for publication after the meeting. If I am not able to send my paper by the deadline for inclusion in the CD-ROM, will I still be able to present at the Congress?Yes, you may still present the paper. Presenters missing the CD-ROM deadline may request that LASA include the text of their papers on the LASA website in the "Papers from Past Congresses" section. Does LASA publish a book of abstracts? No. The CD-ROM incorporates papers in their entirety. |
