Chapman University, a comprehensive, liberal-arts based university in Southern California, seeks a tenure track assistant professor in Comparative Politics/International Relations with a specialization in Latin American Politics. The political science major is housed in the Wilkinson College of Letters and Sciences, the liberal arts college of the university, which is deeply committed to excellence in teaching and to personalized education, mentoring and collaborative research with students. Position is effective fall, 2008. Qualifications: Ph.D. in Political Science with emphases in Comparative Politics and/or International Relations. Responsibilities include teaching both lower and upper-division courses that contribute to the political science curriculum and department, undergraduate advisement and mentoring, and contributing to the general education program, particularly the freshman year experience. Specific course responsibilities will include Introduction to International Relations, Introduction to Comparative Politics, Latin American Politics, and other upper-level courses depending on teaching and research interests. The successful candidate will provide evidence of effective teaching and scholarly productivity. The candidate should have a commitment to a student-centered learning environment and cultural diversity. Salary is competitive and based on credentials and experience.
