Latino/a and/or Latin American Religions Assistant Professor

DePaul University. Department of Religious Studies invites applications for a tenure-track position in Latino/a and/or Latin American Religions at the assistant professor level beginning September 2008. Candidates in Religious Studies, Theology, or related disciplines in the humanities or social sciences whose research and teaching interests focus on Latino/a religions and/or Latin American religions (pre-conquest, colonial, or postcolonial) are encouraged to apply. Applicants should be prepared to teach both introductory and advanced undergraduate courses in these areas. We encourage the development of courses related to the candidate’s research interests, interdisciplinary courses in other departments such as the Latin American and Latino Studies Program, and scholarly outreach to non-academic communities in the area of the candidate’s interests. Ph.D. in Religious Studies or a related discipline is required at the time of appointment. Record of scholarly activity is required and teaching experience is preferred. Applications must include a cover letter, curriculum vitae, a sample of scholarly work, three letters of recommendation, sample course syllabi, and any available evidence of teaching effectiveness. Applications received by November 9th will be considered for AAR/SBL interviews. We will continue to review applications until the position is filled.
