POSITION DESCRIPTION AND DUTIES
Hunter College of the City University of New York seeks an outstanding scholar in Puerto Rican/Latino Studies for a tenure-track Assistant Professor position to begin in Fall 2008.
Candidates with disciplinary expertise in History applied to research and teaching in Puerto Rican Studies are particularly encouraged to apply.

Minimum Requirements:
The successful candidate will have evidence of excellent teaching ability and potential to development a strong research record. The selected candidate should have research and teaching experience in areas such as Puerto Rican history, History of Cuba, History of the Hispanic Caribbean, Race and Identity in Puerto Rico, Latino Studies and the African Diaspora in Latin America and the Caribbean, gender and nationalism. Preference will be given to candidates whose teaching and/or research integrates two or more of these areas. He or she will be required to contribute to curriculum development as appropriate, work effectively with students, contribute appropriate service and engage in research that results in peer-reviewed publication. PhD is required at the time of appointment.

Candidates should submit a letter of application, curriculum vitae, transcript, a publication or writing sample, three letters of recommendation, and evidence of teaching experience (e.g.: syllabi; teaching evaluations).
