POSITION DESCRIPTION AND DUTIES
The Department of Africana and Puerto Rican/Latino Studies invites applications for a tenure-track Assistant, Associate or Full Professor position in Puerto Rican/Latino Studies to begin in early Fall 2008. Candidates with a Ph.D. in Sociology or Anthropology applied to research and teaching in Puerto Rican Studies are particularly encouraged to apply.
The selected candidate will engage in research or scholarly work that is a significant contribution to the discipline, teach discipline-based courses focused on Puerto Rican issues, contribute to curriculum development as appropriate, work effectively with students, and contribute appropriate service and leadership.

Minimum Requirements:
A Ph.D. is required at the time of appointment.
At the Full Professor level, the successful candidate will be an accomplished scholar with a distinguished record of publication and teaching experience in the filed of Puerto Rican Studies. He or she must be a leader in the field.
At the Associate Professor level, the successful candidate will have an excellent record in teaching a variety of courses in Puerto Rican Studies, a strong track record of publication and demonstrable evidence of an ongoing research or scholarly agendum and growing recognition in the field.
At the Assistant Professor level, the successful candidate will present evidence of excellent teaching ability and a highly promising research record.
