Visiting ScholarUniversity of Missouri-Columbia Description: The Visiting Scholar is expected to pursue research and publication in his/her area of scholarship. The Scholar will teach two undergraduate courses in year one. Teaching responsibilities will increase from two to three courses in the second year. The Scholar will be in residence and is expected take an active part in developing a department seminar series on Latina/o studies and gender. Women’s and Gender Studies at the University of Missouri, Columbia is in a period of growth. We have been a program for 26 years and are now a Department in the Colleges of Arts and Sciences. Our faculty have broad research and teaching interests focusing on gender, race, women, and sexuality in transnational and U.S. contexts. We have eight department faculty, and over forty faculty in other departments with formal affiliations. We work closely with other departments and units on campus, including the Chancellor’s Diversity Initiative and the Chancellor’s Committee on the Status of women. The two year Visiting Scholar position begins August 2008. The salary is $39,000 with benefits, and additional funds will be provided for research-related expenses. An office in the department suite and clerical support will also be provided. The University of Missouri is an EOE/AA/ADA employer.
