University of Southern California, Center on Public Diplomacy

Description:
The USC Center on Public Diplomacy seeks to appoint a senior professional and/or scholar to lead a vibrant university-based center that promotes research, policy analysis, professional training, and dialogue on public diplomacy as it is practiced around the world. The Center’s Director will provide organizational leadership in the following core areas: (1) strategic vision and planning; (2) program and resource management; (3) development and funding for research, training, and publications; (4) mentorship of students through career and internship placement assistance and involvement in the Master’s Program in Public Diplomacy; and (5) management of local, national and international constituencies of partners and stakeholders.

Deadline:
Applications accepted beginning March 15, 2008. Position will remain open until filled.

Minimum Requirements:
Doctorate or other advanced degree preferred. Combined experience/education as substitute for minumum education.

Preferred Qualifications:
Qualified candidates will have extensive international and public diplomacy experience and hold a position of authority in the professional or academic community. They will also possess a strong background in strategic management and program administration, a proven record of visionary leadership, knowledge of external relations and fundraising, with an advanced degree in such areas as international relations, political science, or public policy and extensive combined experience working in an organization or academic institution involved in some aspect of public diplomacy. .
