Utah State University (USU) invites nominations and applications for a significant academic leadership position as Dean of the College of Humanities, Arts, and Social Sciences. Utah State University is a Carnegie doctoral-extensive (Research I) institution, and Utah's land-grant and space-grant university. Founded in 1888, USU is the oldest and largest public residential campus in Utah. The university enrolls approximately 15,000 students at its main campus in Logan, including approximately 1,700 graduate students. An additional 11,000 students enroll in USU courses at three regional campuses, fifteen teaching centers, international programs in China, and through online offerings. More than 5,000 high school students are enrolled in USU courses as part of an innovative statewide concurrent enrollment program. As one of the top twenty land-grant universities in the nation in the receipt of external research funding, faculty at Utah State University acquired approximately $150 million in support of their research in the last fiscal year.

Deadline:
The position is available July 1, 2008 or at a time convenient to the selected incumbent. Application review will begin November 20, 2007 and will continue until the position is filled.

Minimum Requirements:
*Academic credentials sufficient for appointment to the rank of Full Professor in a discipline represented in the College of Humanities, Arts, and Social Sciences.

*Demonstrated engagement in multiple areas representative of the arts, humanities, and social sciences. *Outstanding academic leadership experience in higher education with academic program development, budget management, and student recruitment and retention.

*Commitment to excellence in undergraduate and graduate education.

*Ability to inspire achievement in others.

*Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

*A commitment to success in advancement and fundraising and possession of skills necessary for success in these endeavors.

*Demonstrated collegial relationships with faculty, students, and staff to foster an environment of professional growth.

Preferred Qualifications:
*An appreciation of, and commitment to, the land-grant mission of the University.

*Administrative experience in a Carnegie Research Level I University system.

*Experience in development and management of international educational programming.

*Demonstrated ability to engage the community in arts, humanities, and social sciences.

*Understanding of, and passion for, contributions of arts, humanities, and social sciences to university-wide academic curricula.

*Passion for, and commitment to, fostering teaching excellence.

*Excellent ability to secure external funding through contracts, grants, and gifts.
