The Centre for the Study of Violence (NEV/USP), a Research Center of the University of São Paulo, Brazil, considered a national and international reference in the research and publications on violence, democracy and human rights, welcomes applications for post-doctoral researcher to develop research project on the following area: Trust in Institutions and Police and Judicial Treatment of Homicide Cases (Prof. Sérgio Adorno). The value of the scholarship is of monthly paid R$ 4.508,10. The initial project should last 6 months with the possibility of two extensions of one year each.

Minimum Requirements:
Candidates must have a Ph.D. degree with proven competence and impact on the area and theme intended; candidates must be able to work full time on the chosen research topic and not receive any payment or salary from other institutions, companies or organizations; candidates must be fluent in English and Portuguese, to be proved in oral and written exam to be held at NEV/USP for finalist candidates.

Documents Required:
1. Abridged curriculum vitae in English with some copies of his/her most relevant works. Brazilian researchers are also required to present Lattes curricula.
2. One passport photo.
3. Research project (20 pages max; 1,5 space – English or Portuguese), with title, abstract (20 lines maximum); introduction and justification; synthesis of fundamental bibliography; objectives; work plan and dated activities; materials and methods; form of results analysis.

Accepted candidates will:
Present yearly at least one paper, for publication in International periodicals with high impact, on the subject of the research and an annual report of activities; Present at least one public lecture and one seminar about his/her research per semester; Acknowledge the role of the Centre in the outcomes of their research project, such as books, papers and other forms of knowledge transfer.
