The Department of Hispanic Languages and Literatures of the University of Pittsburgh invite applications for a tenured appointment at the rank of Professor in Latin American Literature. The appointment would begin in Fall 2010, pending budgetary and administrative approval. We seek a scholar with proven expertise to combine Transatlantic Studies with key areas such as Caribbean studies, women's writers, human rights, and coloniality. Strong publication record required. Additionally, candidates must show evidence of excellence in graduate and undergraduate teaching, experience directing PhD dissertations, and vigorous commitment to assuming departmental administrative responsibilities. Outside the Department, we expect strong and effective interaction with other university centers and units. This senior position is expected to provide departmental leadership and contribute to program development at various levels.
