CALL FOR PAPERS: SPECIAL ISSUE “ASSESSING TRANS-PACIFIC TIES BETWEEN ASIA AND LATINAMERICA”

Latin American Journal of Asian Studies (LAJAS) and LASA Asia and the Americas announces a call for papers to the special issue “Assessing trans-pacific ties between Asia and Latin America”. This special issue aims to explore the transpacific socio-economic, political and cultural relations between the regions of Asia and Latin America. We invite you to send your articles by October 30, 2024.

About the journal

LAJAS is an official publication of the Institute of International Studies of the University of Chile, one of the oldest interdisciplinary centers of the region, a leader in research, lecturing, analysis, and promotion of the debate on political science, international relations, international law, history, and international economics. The Journal follows an open-access policy, articles in the journal will be available online for free.

Latin American Studies Association (LASA) is the largest professional association in the world for individuals and institutions engaged in the study of Latin America. The LASA Continental Congresses provide an opportunity to collaborate and work on the many interesting theoretical and practical problems presented in each continent in relation to Latin America.

Concept note

In recent decades, Asia has become the second-largest trading partner of Latin America. This tie has highlighted the increase interdependence between these two regions. In this sense, we expect contributions that could include:

• Political, economic, cultural and social dynamics between Asia and LAC countries

• Comparative studies on both regions Asia and Latin America

• Trans-pacific cooperation initiatives

• Trade relations between Asia and Latin America

We encourage scholars, researchers and practitioners working on issues related to this topic to submit your manuscripts.

The due date for submission is October 30, 2024.

Guidelines for submission of articles:

Articles must not exceed 7,000 words, including footnotes and references (Arial 11). They must include an abstract of up to 250 words and five keywords. Authors must adhere to the APA 7th edition guidelines. The review process will be double-blind. Papers can be delivered in English or Spanish

Submit your work, including:

• Article (in Word file, include the title and abstract in both English and Spanish).

• Authors’ sheet (names, affiliation, short biography of up to 100 words).

• Graphs and figures (in high-resolution image format - jpg, tiff, pdf, at 300 dpi).
